Support/Stripe payments
Ready to turn on paid subscriptions for your publication? This guide walks you through connecting Stripe, receiving your earnings, and answers the most common questions.
Setting up Stripe takes just minutes. Stripe will ask for information about you and your publication, and a bank account where your earnings are sent. You don't need an existing Stripe account — Morse creates one for you through Stripe Connect.
Customer support details such as a phone number, email address, and address may appear on subscriber receipts and card statements. You can hide your phone number and edit these details later in your Stripe dashboard, under Settings → Public details.
Sign in to Morse and open your Finance page.
In the Stripe payouts section, click Connect with Stripe.
Enter the requested information, such as your name, country, and a registered business or home address. Depending on your country, Stripe will tailor the details needed to verify your identity and meet regulatory requirements.
Link your bank account using your online banking credentials, or manually add your account details. Stripe refers to the money it sends to your bank as payouts.
Provide customer support details that help subscribers recognize the charges on their credit card statements, then submit.
Once Stripe confirms your account, you're returned to your Finance page, where you can set your prices and start charging for your newsletter.
Once payouts are enabled, the Pricing section on your Finance page unlocks: set your monthly and yearly prices, choose your currency, and write the announcement email your subscribers receive when paid pricing starts.
Your Stripe account is yours. Every subscription is billed directly on it, and all payouts for paid subscriptions can be viewed there.
Yes. Two fees come out of every payment: Stripe's processing fee (for example, 2.9% + 30¢ on USD cards) and Morse's 5% platform fee. The rest is yours — on a $5 monthly subscription you keep about $4.30 per payment.
Payments usually arrive in your bank account within a few business days of each transaction. The first payout for every new Stripe account takes 7–14 days to deposit, as Stripe verifies your account.
Yes. Once a payout is on its way, Stripe emails you the amount and the estimated deposit date. You can also review every payout in the Payouts tab of your Stripe dashboard, and see your earnings history on your Morse Finance page.
Stripe is our sole payment provider. If Stripe doesn't support your country, you can consider Stripe Atlas, which helps you set up a US company and bank account designed to work with Stripe.
Go to your Stripe dashboard's Settings → Public details page and turn off "Show phone number on receipts and invoices". You can also change the support email shown to subscribers there.
We recommend keeping a dedicated Stripe account for your publication, separate from other ventures or businesses you may have connected on Stripe.
